Hi!  I'm Frani, the GraniTM.  This picture is of me and my honey, Pat.  Pat and I met in high school at the age of 16 and have been together ever since.  He's my best friend.

With three grandchildren, I can honestly say that I am a genuine, bona fide,  Grani.  So how did I get into beading?  Why in heaven's name would I want to work with those tiny little seed beads?

In a nutshell, I traveled a lot back in 1996.  I was gone quite a bit and needed something to do with my hands.  I'm not one of those people who likes to sit in bars and talk to strangers.  In my travels, I saw some of the most beautiful and fascinating pieces of jewelry and art made from beads.  So, I went to my local hobby store, bought some seed beads and supplies and was on my way to learning how to make beaded projects.  I started with the brick stitch and made lots and lots of earrings.  I was hooked.

I remember as a kid in the 1960's making beaded head bands using a loom.  Now, I enjoy creating my projects using lots of different stitches.  I love creating wooden beaded eggs for Easter using the netting stitch...amulet bags for my friends and family using peyote stitch...Necklaces and earrings using the square stitch.  My all time favorite stitch is right angle weave (RAW).  I learned to use tools to bend sterling silver wire and create beautiful earrings and necklaces.  Being a self-starter, I learn all of the stitch techniques on my own getting pointers and support from a lot of my friends here in Pueblo.

In 1998, I started teaching friends and family how to bead and decided that some day I would own a full-service bead store in which I would teach the techniques and provide the supplies needed.  Today, I teach a couple of classes in the Pueblo community.  We also sponsor traveling instructors who bring their expertise and knowledge to our store.

I love learning about beads.  I love touching them.  More importantly, I love being with other women who also love beading.  Beading has opened up a window of relationships for me.  Beading has kept me sane during the rough moments of my life.  Beading has opened up a spiritual door for me also.  I learned that beading soothes the soul and brings me closer to my Creator.

Our store is located in Midtown Shopping Center at 1000 W. 6th St, Pueblo, CO .  We offer thousands of beads and supplies.  You will find kits with patterns created by local artists.  Our beading classes will get you started on all kinds of beading projects from beading basics to off-loom stitching.

Visit our bead store for all of your beading needs.  Take one of our classes.  You will learn an interesting art and make great friendships. Join us on Friday mornings or the 2nd Thursday evening of the month.

Feel free to e-mail me with your question and comments.

Happy Beading!
